St. Simons Island Spa Day at One Love Organics
When you’re on vacation your time is limited, so it is easy to keep your schedule packed with activities. But sometimes you just need to take a breath and do something relaxing by yourself. Sometimes for me it’s a museum visit or a walk on the beach, but I often find myself at a day spa for an hour or two. I got my first facial in college and I’ve been hooked on simple skin care ever since, even when I travel.

I’ve been a fan of One Love Organics for years and have become a total Gardenia & Tea serum devotee. There is no better scent in the world as far as I’m concerned, and you can layer it with sunscreen without feeling greasy. Since OLO is based in my hometown of St. Simons Island, Georgia, I made a point to visit their new island day spa in Redfern Village. The spa is the perfect respite if you’re looking to treat your skin to a glow up and have some time to yourself during your beach trip.

They offer a variety of treatments available depending on the time you have and your needs. I went with the Detox & Glow Facial with personalized peel and added on some brow shaping and Bio-light therapy. While you fill out an information sheet, an esthetician will meet with you to find out any issues you’re having and what essential oils you enjoy. Next, you head back to the treatment room, a couple even over look the marsh. The whole space is crisp and clean, just like One Love’s signature shades of pink and white.
Once you get settled in under your pink and white towel, let the bliss begin. One of the main reasons I love OLO is that their products are made in the USA, they’re ECOCERT (natural and organic), and cruelty free. They never use GMO ingredients, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicon, PEG, or synthetic perfumes and dyes so you can feel comfortable having the products slathered all over your pretty face. The whole facial and peel is customized to your skin so no treatment will be exactly the same. Just lay back, breathe in the essential oils, and enjoy for an hour, or 90 minutes if you’ve got nothing but time.
Your skin will feel clean, silky smooth, rejuvenated, and oh so moisturized. Once the treatment is over, take your time getting up and head out to the back deck to rehydrate and ease back into reality. The spa’s screened in porch doubles as a cozy lounge overlooking the marsh. If you’re traveling with a group of girls, call the spa (912-434-4212) to set up a group experience and make an afternoon of it together. The porch would be an ideal place for a spa day celebrating a bride to be or a birthday. I could’ve stayed out there for hours! They can accommodate 4 treatments in a day, 2 in the morning and 2 after lunch. You can also schedule a group facial to learn how to DIY a treatment at home. The staff at One Love is so accommodating; just let them know what you’re thinking and they’ll help you with the rest. Make a day of it at the spa with picnic supplies from the Golden Isles Olive Oil Market in Redfern Village and enjoy some delicious cheese and charcuterie between treatments and a break from the hot sun. Or after your treatments, head to one of the popular local restaurants in Redfern Village for lunch.

Before you head back to the beach, make sure to stock up on some products to take home. Your esthetician can recommend a skincare routine based on your skins needs and walk you through what they used during the facial. The entire line is available in the gallery like shop in the front of the spa. I finally got some new Skin Savior Balm that works as a multipurpose moisturizer that is a handy travel size. Many of their products come in travel sizes so you don’t have to worry about packing a bunch a large bottles.

Now that summer is in full swing, One Love Organics has an easy Post-Sun Treatment on their blog for your face and body that I’m loving right now. The Love + Charcoal masque is a great product to have at home or in your travel case. It cleans your skin while moisturizing and leaving it super soft. I usually do this masque when I get home from a trip, but One Love says you can do this masque 1-2 times a week. It also comes in a travel size!
